You may be tempted to treat your dog, but think twice about these food your dog should NOT eat!

  • Alcohol – It takes a much smaller amount to have the same effects on a dog. This said, it takes much less alcohol to lead to brain & liver damage.
  • Avocado – This fruit (the leaves, pit, & fruit) contains persin, a toxin dangerous to most pets. Vomiting may occur. Consuming avocado may be fatal for some pets!
  • Chocolate – Chocolate can cause illness and may even be fatal for dogs.
  • Grapes & Raisins – Vomiting may occur. Can cause sudden kidney failure.
  • Macadamia Nuts – Consumption may lead to fever, shaking, trouble walking, vomiting and can potentially be fatal.
  • Meat Bones & Fat – The bones from meat can get lodged in your dogs throat or even splinter! Also, The fat from your meat can lead to pancreatitis in your dog.
  • Onions – Even in powder form, onions can cause vomiting or weakness and can even lead to anemia.
  • Seeds & Pits – Some seeds are toxic for your dog, such as apple seeds. Some pits are toxic, like avocado pits. And some seeds & pits will simply be a choking hazard!
  • Xylitol – This is an artificial sweetener found in many human foods such as baked goods, candy, and gum. Consuming products with this can cause liver failure, seizures, or even death! Look out for mints, mouthwash, toothpaste, sugar-free ice cream, and some peanut butter!
  • Yeast Dough – Because the dough is not baked, if your dog consumes yeast dough it can rise in your dogs stomach. This is extremely painful and may lead to poisoning.
