Sassy

We adopted Sassy in the winter of 2016 from the City of Elderly Love, a dog senior pet rescue in Philadelphia, PA. This fluffy puppy was about 11 when we adopted her and she wasn’t always so fluffy! At the time our house had one dog, two rabbits, and an unexpected slew of foster rabbits.

As her name suggests, Sassy is a bit… sassy!

When we first met her, and finally adopted her, she was the MOST sassy dog we’d ever met. She would snap at you when you would pet her and she HATED getting picked up!

Time to eat? Sassy barking.

Time to sleep? Sassy growling and digging at her bed.

Sassy had a bad skin condition which contributed to a hair loss issue. Her tail and rear end were the worst of it. Dry, black areas on her skin with very little hair. She also had a terribly tilted head which caused some spinal issues. Her walk was very crooked…

We didn’t love her less because of her issues! We figured it out!

After a few vet visits, we got the proper medication for Sassy’s skin issue. After a few months her hair started to grow in more full like a true Pomeranian! And even better, she started to LOVE pets and scratches!

Her head tilt and crooked back took a little longer to figure out. We took her to a doggy chiropractor. But it was agreed that she was a bit too old to get the treatment she needed. We thought all hope was lost.

BUT! We luckily diagnosed her with a very bad ear infection. I say luckily only because, after treatment, her head was no longer crooked AND her back became as straight as it could be for a girl of her age.

We now closely monitor her ears and skin. She regularly gets bathed with a medicated wash to keep her skin healthy and fur full!

She is still a sassy girl! But, she is now so full of love 🙂
