In the summer of 2017, my wife went to look at dogs, as many of us do, with no intent on adopting. At the time we had 2 dogs and 2 rabbits (plus some rabbits we were fostering). She saw a dog named Baby and she couldn’t resist. After a day or two, I gave in and said yes… as I always do!
When my wife went back to adopt Baby, she noticed another dog in in the corner of the same pen. Baby was penned up with another small, white dog. This other dog was scared. She was cowering in the corner, looking about as sad as you can imagine.
My wife asked about the dog in the corner. Her name… Layla.
Both Baby and Layla came from the same bad situation. Breeders 🙁
It’s almost impossible to imagine Layla without her best friend in the entire world, Baby! My wife knew it right away. They could not be separated. So… we adopted TWO dogs that day.
Layla is a good girl who LOVES her mommy! Actually, my wife is about the ONLY human that Layla is fond of.
Layla is extremely protective of my wife. Every day since 2016, if my wife is home, Layla will bark when I come home. She even barks when I enter our bedroom. Again, only if my wife is in the room already.
She does love me, though. She will jump on the couch with me and give me a lick here and there. She knows I am harmless. But she will never stop protecting my wife!
Both Baby and Layla come from Providence Animal Center (just like our boy, Riley!)
